Around the City
Walking and wondering through Strasbourg. This is a very nice town - I think it would be considered a moderate sized city, but there is a large district that is very old that makes one feel they are in a town. Strasbourg could be called the "Capital of Europe", since this is where the European Union Parlimant sits. In 1988, Strasbourg celebrated it's 2000th birthday (around the same time the USA turned the ripe old age of 212). The city is divided in several places by some main rivers, which I assume were important trading routes a long time ago. Julius Ceaser marched his troups through the city in its infancy, and Mozart enjoyed performing here in the 1600-1700's. More recently (or, to come), Strasbourg is going to host the opening prolouge stage of the Tour de France in 2006. Be sure to view the full sized images of the panoramics!
